Chapter 53: A Loophole

 It's Friday morning and Jason is in his apartment downtown getting some rest on his couch while watching the news. After about some minutes of relaxation he decides to call Tyler after he gets an idea. He therefore pulls out his phone and dialed Tyler's number and asks him to come to his house. It doesn't take long since Tyler was just around town shopping for some things to aid the breakout. As soon as he came Jason poured him a cold juice to drink

"Juice, really?" Tyler asked the moment he received the glass from Jason

"It's not even past midday and you want a drink, suffice with that for now" Jason said

"Whatever, so why did you call me here and better yet,why are you not in your home?" Tyler asked

"I'm trying to play it low-key for now" Jason said as he took a sip

"You sure do have a way of playing it low-key bringing your girl on a date on your yacht" Tyler said as he shrugged his shoulders

"Don't worry about that, besides,I have a feeling that she is unique in a way" Jason said with a smile

"Enough about her already,why am I here?" Tyler asked

"Oh, about that. I wanted to chip in on your plan" Jason said as he looked at Tyler

"Well that's a relief, the least you can do is to help with cooking up the jailbreak you came up with to start with" Tyler said as he took a big gulp of his drink

"How many people are in it at the moment?" Jason asked

"So far, three" Tyler responded

"What are their roles in it?" Jason asked

"Well, I'm the sniper guy who rains hellfire on the transport giving us some time and cover for the deed to be done. There's Peter,your butler's protege,who is our get away driver. And final we have Bennett,he will act as our secondary marksman, taking out any threats on the ground" Tyler answered

"Well you know for Bennett to even get close to the armoured truck he'd have to at least have a good reason as to why he's so close to the truck to begin with" Jason told him

"What are you saying?" Tyler asked

"Bennet will not be able to get close to the armoured truck even with your cover unless the security guards trust him" Jason answered, " that's why we need him to go undercover"

"Jason,you do realize that this doesn't happen like in movies where someone goes undercover for months just to get to the bottom of something. This is real life and we have six days to do that" Tyler told him

"I know,but who says to infiltrate the police escort you need months undercover?" Jason asked

"Go on, I'm following" Tyler said

"Why go the long and tiresome way when you can use a loophole in the system. I learnt that before every prison transport, Ray signs on the police escort that will accompany the squad from the police station to the courthouse and back to the prison before reporting back to the station" Jason said

"Yeah, so what does that help us with?" Tyler asked

Jason looked at Tyler for a moment before getting his laptop and sitting next to him and start working on something. He gave Tyler a look that said 'let me blow your mind'

"What are you doing?" Tyler asked as he tried to look at what Jason was up to

"I figured that with the mayor's involvement with Hunters, no one would see it as odd if the mayor asked for a favour during the transportation" Jason said as he typed away on his laptop

"What kind of favour?" Tyler asked

"Well, what if our dear old mayor ask the police department to assign a specific person to accompany Hunters to the court hearing?" Jason asked

"That would make it even harder for us since the mayor would probably pick someone with quite the skills when it comes to marksmanship" Tyler answered

"That's exactly where our loophole lies, no one in the police department would question the mayor's pick on who should accompany the transport. But something else which might interest you, the mayor doesn't make recommendations on who rides shotgun with prison transport" Jason said as he continued working on his laptop

"Is this a good news bad news session because I'm currently lost in what you have in store for me" Tyler said

"You don't get it, let me break it down then. The mayor doesn't make recommendations concerning prison transport. But considering the person who is being transported,I have a reason to believe that if the mayor makes any recommendations this time the police department would be willing to turn a blind eye considering Mr Ray is under the strings of the mayor. " Jason said as he put the finishing touches on whatever he was working on

"So what you're trying to say is.." Tyler was talking before Jason finished his statement

"I can get you close enough to catch them by surprise. Same estimated carnage but much easier way of execution" Jason said

"Great, so how are you going to do that exactly?" Tyler asked

"Like this" Jason said as he pointed to his laptop's screen," I just got you a letter that once signed by Ray will give you clearance to escort the transport squad without being accompanied by the actual police"

"That's just step one,how do we get him to sign it?" Tyler asked

"Nothing much, we will just send it to his desk with his other documents." Jason said

"This is a what if situation with him, how sure are you that he won't call the mayor to ask him about the letter?" Tyler asked

"Tyler my friend,you need to be positive once in a while,no need for the negative vibe everytime. But just to answer your question,I have backdated the letter around five days back so that by the time he opens it he will think of how much time he has taken before signing it and I'm sure that he would not want to confirm with the mayor on something that he will have already wasted time to do" Jason said

"What does the letter entail?" Tyler asked

"Well it simply says that at the police station the procession will be accompanied by a private car with two occupants. There will be no need for identification except for a similar letter to the one that needed signing. And I'm guessing that Peter and Bennett have to be your men on the ground?" Jason asked

"Yes,I can't show my appearance in public. I have a reputation to uphold now" Tyler said

"All thanks to yours truly. But another thing, this letter gives Peter and Bennett the right to walk with a firearm and any other thing in the trunk of their car. So when the time is just right all they need to do is suit up and get the party started" Jason said

"This better work" Tyler said as he read through the letter

"It will work,I'm willing to place my bet on this than anything else you would have come up with" Jason said. " Now here's what I need you to do, I've sent the letter to your email, go there and print it out. Next,hand it over to the mailman who takes the letters directly to Mr Ray and we wait for it all to unfold in front of our own eyes"

"I must say,you have clearly outdone yourself with this....you don't know how much time for planning you have saved us and even possibly made the work easier for us when planning and executing your crazy jailbreak idea"
