Chapter 44: Magraff's little secret

 "What is he talking about?" Alpha asked Daymond

"It's nothing" Daymond answered

"Don't tell me you are too shy to tell us about it" Jason started pushing with his look

"I said it's nothing" Daymond repeated

"Whatever he's into, tell us about it. We can't help you unless you tell us what is going on" Alpha said

"Guys, what is happening? I got lost during question and answer time." Mikhail said

"Me too. What's going on?" Djokovic added on

"Well our friend over here didn't see it so necessary to tell us that he is an IT guru" Jason said

"Well I see nothing wrong with that, I'm a cat person and I don't go telling everyone about it" Djokovic said out loud

"I'm more of a guns kinda guy, but I also don't tell" Mikhail said too

"Well Djokovic just painted a picture that I can't get out of my head now, where are you going with this topic Jason? Because I would really like you not to paint anymore of these pictures inside my head" Alpha said

"I wish I had not heard that too, I'm also trying to delete that from my memory" Jason said

"Offense taken" Djokovic said

"It was intended" both Jason and Alpha said in unison while Mikhail was laughing. Amidst this moment everyone was all smiles except Daymond.

"Well who's a Mr grumpy pants" Alpha said as he noticed that Daymond was not even smiling

"He has more problems than a man trying to juggle two side chicks and a wife" Jason said as he turned his attention towards Daymond

"What does that mean?" Djokovic asked

"I believe he hasn't been completely honest because he has something to tell you, don't you Magraff?" Jason asked

"I kind of have one confession to make" Daymond said as he looked down and started to gather his thoughts

"Well now would be a good time to let us know since I can't have surprises popping up at odd times" Alpha said

"I worked for the mayor on a certain project that needed a good IT guy, he paid well since I delivered as he asked" Daymond said

"Well you never brought up the story of working with the mayor" Mikhail said

"I didn't think it would be much of help then" Daymond replied

"Tell them what you found out," Jason pressed on

"So after working with him, I set up some security systems and a few other services. He was happy with the work generally" Daymond said

"You must be good then with all that computer and tech stuff" Djokovic said

"Yes I was. Apparently to good" Daymond said

"What does that mean?" Alpha asked

"While finishing up his work I accidentally stumbled on a few files. They were encrypted, almost impossible to find. Before, he had set up some similar files in his system to see if I could find them and decrypt them. It was more like tests to test how good I was. So, I naturally thought that this was like one of those drills. I took it upon myself to decrypt them. Took me a while to get them open and that's when I noticed that they it was not a drill." Daymond said

"What was in those files?" Mikhail asked

"Offshore bank accounts, hidden assets, millions of dollars, shares from companies, title deeds for huge tracts of land all over the country and some overseas. I don't even remember how many folders I was looking at but anything or everything that money can buy illegally was there," Daymond

"Everyone has a closet full of skeletons but sounds like our mayor has a whole graveyard in there" Jason said

"Wait a minute, this is why you are being framed, isn't it?" Alpha asked

"I think so" Daymond replied

"Did he know that you found those files?" Djokovic asked

"I guess so, because immediately I found them I just backed down from any extra work and cut my connections with him. I only communicated with him to ask for my pay" Daymond answered

"Real nice. You really had a nice strategy of pretending that you found files that you were not supposed to find. I mean it would would definitely fool me" Mikhail said sarcastically

"Take it down a notch Mikhail,he obviously didn't know what else to do" Djokovic intervened

"Well he obviously found out what was going on and had to be sure that his little secret was safe," Mikhail said

"Don't mind these two. Tell me, what did you do to the files?" As Alpha was asking this Jason took out his phone and started messaging Tyler

"I copied them and sent them to my email account, that's all that I could think of at that time" Daymond said this

Immediately he said this Jason sent a message to Tyler telling him where all the files were

"Do you mind showing us?" Alpha asked

"Sure thing, just get me a laptop" Daymond replied

"Give me a moment" Alpha said as he called the reception and asked Kayla to send someone to bring him his laptop

'Hurry' Jason typed after about five minutes when Alpha's laptop was brought to the room.

"Just log into your email account using this" Alpha said as he handed the laptop to Daymond

Jason received a text saying 'stall them' and had to think fast of a way to stall all of them including Daymond

"Wait a minute, what if he wanted you to find those files?" Jason asked making all of them stop to listen to him

"What are you implying?" Djokovic asked

"I was just wondering what if the mayor wanted Daymond to find those files" Jason said

"And why would he do that?" Mikhail stopped

"I don't know, maybe he had his reasons" Jason answered

"Why would the mayor want to expose his dark naked body to anyone knowing what such information can cost him,sorry for using the weirdest expression" Alpha said

"My question is, how in the world did you know about my dealings with the mayor and these other guys didn't?" Daymond asked

"I have my ways" Jason replied," that's why he brought me onboard in this case" he finished as he pointed at Alpha

"You.... you knew.... You knew about the files to didn't you?" Daymond asked

"That's right" Djokovic said as he turned and eyed Jason curiously

"Don't look at me like that, my reputation is good enough evidence that nothing passes by me in a case" Jason said

"It's true... But now I have a better question for Daymond---" Alpha said as he looked at Daymond

"--why wait for this long to tell us?" Jason finished off Alpha's question

"Yeah, why now?" Alpha asked

"Because I feel like it can help now so that you understand why I'm the victim and target" Daymond said

As he said this Jason felt his phone vibrate and knew that was his cue.

"Well then, with that said why don't we see what the mayor has in store for us" Jason said

All eyes went to the laptop's screen as he logged into his email account.

"I hid them in my spam box, I didn't know anywhere else to send them to before" Daymond said as he opened his spam box and opened the first message. The message opened but started loading. Whatever came next, caught all of them unaware, Jason included

"Mr Magraff, do you mind telling me why I'm looking at the blueprints to MY BUILDING!!!" Alpha shouted

On the screen were the blueprints to LA associates building from floor to for

"No! This can't be!!!! I swear this was the file" Daymond said with a mixture of fear and confusion on his face." I sent it and I just accessed it two days ago to confirm whether everything was still there!!! Someone must have tampered with them" he said nearly shouting.
