Chapter 43: Magraff's little secret

 "Tyler, next time you plan on booking me a meeting, try to you know.... Give me a heads-up" Jason said

"You are welcome" Tyler replied

"Remind me, why am I meeting up with him?" Jason asked

"You are the one who has taught me, the enemy of your enemy...." Tyler said

"Is my friend. I appreciate the help but you could have at least let me know. What if I had plans for tomorrow evening?" Jason asked

"You would have to cancel them" Tyler answered

"You don't expect me to just do that" Jason protested

"Well do you have any plans for tomorrow evening?" Tyler asked

"Uhhmm, no" Jason answered

"Perfect, so tomorrow you're free" Tyler said

"Fine. What am I supposed to even go and tell him?" Jason asked

"I don't know, that's your thing" Tyler replied

"You set up a meeting and didn't even have a battle plan?" Jason asked

"I'm sure you will think of something. Who knows, maybe you will strike a deal with him. I mean nowadays that's what you've been doing" Tyler said

"Real funny Tyler" Jason said with a sigh

"I'm serious, you are striking more deals than the devil. He'd be jealous" Tyler said

"Like I said, real funny" Jason said

" Have fun on your date by the way, don't keep Marla waiting too long" Tyler said

"Sure thing,wait.... Are you watching me?" Jason asked as he looked around

"No... I'm not watching you, I'm just checking if the cameras at the hotel work" Tyler said

"Quit it, it's creepy" Jason said as he ended the call and went back to where Marla was

"I'm sorry for taking too long" Jason apologized as he took his seat

" No need to apologize, sometimes those calls are important to either us or the caller. Therefore picking them isn't a crime" Marla said 

"Well said" Jason said as he took a bite from his food

"Pop quiz time" Marla said

"I'm sorry, but did you just say pop quiz time?" He asked

"Yes I did. You ready?" She asked

"I guess so" he answered

"Do you smoke?" She asked

"No, but I do drink a bit. Just once in a while" Jason said

"Nice. Who should pay on a first date?" She asked

"Well I guess, the one who suggested the date first" Jason answered

"I like that. What color do you love most?" She asked

"Black. Any time any day get me a black attire, they go with any event." Jason answered

"Now that I love. A night clubbing or indoors watching a movie?" She went on

"Definitely indoors" Jason answered

"Same as me, interesting." She said

Just then Jason looked at his watch and saw his break was almost over and when he looked at Marla he saw that she knew he had to leave.

"I know you are about to leave but let me ask just one last one." She said

"Sure, fire away" Jason told her

"What's your body count?" She asked as she looked into his eyes

"Well that's a tough one. I would say maybe thirty or forty" he replied as he still looked to be in deep thoughts

"What the hell, that makes you a whore" she said surprised at his answer

"How does that make me one?" He asked

"All those women" she said in shock

"Actually some were men, really nice ones too" Jason said

"Eeewww.... That's disgusting! How can you do that?" She asked

"Do what?" Jason asked back

"How can you sleep with that number of people. Even men? Are you kidding me?" She asked

"Wait, sleep with them? Eeeewwww! Yikes, never" Jason answered

"You just told me" Marla said

"I told you what?" Jason asked

"That you slept with nearly forty people, even men" she answered

"Oh that's what you meant by body count, I'm sorry I misunderstood you. My body count is below two digits" Jason said

"If that's so, what did you mean by nearly forty people concerning your body count?" Marla asked a bit confused but relaxed

"It's nothing, don't worry about it" Jason said as he got up to leave

"Jason hold up, what did you mean?" She asked

"I was kidding" Jason said as he went to her side and gave her a kiss on the cheek." Take care, and see you in the evening"

She just looked at him as he left, she shrugged off the thought of his last answered as she dug into the food. She thought about how Jason made her feel. To her, he was a nice guy and always made her feel happy. For some reason she didn't know, she felt safe with him. Despite the date what was disrupted by the attacks, she still felt safe. She knew that deep down, if anything wrong was to happen he'd have come to her rescue. He respected her decision of not letting him just have sex with her and it didn't seem to bother him. He even accepted to go on another date with her with no expectations of getting into her pants. Deep down she wanted him in between her legs but she didn't want her first time to be meaningless. She wanted the man to have proved himself worthy. And Jason had slowly started proving his worth. She found herself thinking about his looks and his voice, he always had a look in his eyes that made him mysterious. But reading Jason was proving harder than it sounds, this made him even more interesting. She knew that behind those eyes lied something unknown to many, something she didn't even have a clue about. But it is safe to say, sometimes it's better for the unknown to remain unknown. If he ever found himself free to confide in her, she'll be ready for whatever he has hidden behind those eyes. She finished up eating and when she requested for the bill that's when she was told that Jason had paid for her meal when he left.

Alpha was in his office with the Krovacic brothers, Daymond and Jason looking over some details when Jason decided to drop the bombshell.

"Alpha, what would you do if someone finds out a dirty little secret about you?" Jason asked

"I don't know, I'd probably think of a way to keep them quiet" Alpha replied

"What about you Mikhail?" Jason asked

"I don't know, maybe kill that person or something like that" Mikhail answered

"We're getting warmer. Lastly,what would you do Djokovic?" He asked

"If I have authority,I'd send him to jail. No matter how much dirt someone has on you, no one will ever take any convicted felon seriously. Those guys will say anything to go free" Djokovic said

"Whoah, and we have a winner. No one takes any convicted felon seriously,I like the sound of that. And if the person has a spotless clean record?" Jason asked

"Frame them, it's easier that looking for someone to cover up a murder" Djokovic replied

"It's like your tongue has touched some holy water because you my friend, are preaching the truth" Jason said

"Do you mind if I ask what this is all about?" Alpha asked

"Oh I'm sorry, I guess I'm treading faster than you, pardon me" Jason said as he visibly showed a very high level of confidence and excitement. " But I believe it's not in my place to tell you what I'm talking about"

"Then who is supposed to tell us what you are taking about?" Mikhail asked

"I'm glad you asked. The person to tell you what I'm talking about is seated with us in the same room but you'll find him as quiet as a husband who just got caught cheating on his wife with the wife's younger sister, fascinating isn't it? Now Mr Daymond, wouldn't you like to tell these colleagues if mine what I'm talking about? I'm sure we are reading reading from the same page" Jason says as he eyed him mischievously
