Chapter 47: Ice Cream Date

"Now when you put it like that, it sounds so much more comforting" Tyler said sarcastically

"Don't worry, nothing will go wrong" Jason said, "I hope"

"You know I had faith in that statement, right before you said, I hope, now not so much" Tyler him

"Stop complaining already, it's not as if we haven't done anything crazy before" Jason said

"We have actually, lots of times. Like when I shot the mayor while I was hundreds of meters away which by the way has made me trend more than a sex tape if you didn't notice" Tyler said

"See, nothing big. Just another thing to cross off our bucket list" Jason said

"Of course you have a bucket list with prison break as one of the things there" Tyler commented

"Of course you're not surprised, you should be used to it by now" Jason said

"Start counting the days to Friday, because it's either the day that we pull off one of the biggest heists in our lives or things go south really fast" Tyler said as he started preparing o himself psychologically for Friday

"Have the power of positivity. It will work, I assure you. Now get planning while I get to go and finish something somewhere" Jason said

"By finish something somewhere you mean go on another date" Tyler interjected

"It's not my fault that you are not trying this love thing, if you were you wouldn't be complaining to me right now. Now adios" Jason said as he ended the call

He texted Marla to meet him near the Sin City Park where people used to go and hang out and enjoy the silence. It was the ideal place for a picnic for a couple. Jason boarded a taxi and within twenty minutes he was already there and sat on one of the benches waiting for Marla. He waited patiently and after about ten minutes Marla arrived wearing a hoodie, sweatpants, and sneakers all bringing her out as a simple city girl who was ready for a good evening date. She came close and hugged him with a peck on the lips to which she was growing accustomed to when with Jason. With him, she felt safe and she could let her guard down even if she still could tell that there was something about Jason that she didn't know. His eyes always gave her comfort but she could still see something in them that always gave her chills.

But something deep in her gut told her that some things are best not known. She knew that if he had any intentions of telling her what he wanted her to know, he would find time to tell her.

"What are you still doing in that office wear? I'm not walking with you when you're still looking like that" she said as she laughed while taking a step back

"That's why we'll be passing by one of the clothes stores around. If I went home to change I would probably have come late and it's not gentlemanly of me to keep you waiting" Jason said

"Is that even a word?" she asked as they started walking

"What? Gentlemanly?" He asked

"Yes, that" she responded

"Of course it's a word" Jason said

"I've never heard of it" Marla said as she looked at him

"Well now you have, being an advocate,I need to use grammatical accurate words" Jason said teasingly

"I was lost when you started saying grammatically" Marla said as she laughed trying hard to cover her face

"Let's leave that at that, to what I'm going to wear. I'm thinking of matching your attire. It gives of more of a normal date, since that's what you wanted for today" Jason said

"Let's go then" Marla said as they headed for the closest clothes shop they could find

After about five minutes of looking, Jason found the best wear, a simple black hoodie, grey sweatpants, and sneakers. He packed his clothes and paid for his new ones. Once they got outside, Jason hailed a taxi and gave it instructions on where to take his office clothes after tipping the cab driver generously

"We actually look good together" Jason said as he put his hand around and over her shoulder and brought her close

"Yeah, without the office wear you look much more like my date for the evening" Marla said

"Before I looked like?" Jason asked

"Like a rich man who is looking for a hook up with me" she answered bluntly

"Ouch, the suit doesn't change me that much" Jason defended himself

"Take it from me, I'm the one telling you. Anyways, where are we heading?" She asked

"You said you wanted a normal date with no extravagance" Jason answered

"Yes, so what did you have in mind?"she asked

"Just wait and see, patience pays" Jason told her

"You know when you say it like that I get more concerned. Since I don't know what your term as a normal date,a date on the moon could be normal for you. You get me?" She asked

"Come on, despite my financial status I also know how to keep things on the low. I know how to live just on the line" Jason defended himself

They kept on walking till they reached to a street that had everything from hotels to outdoor restaurants. When Jason looked at Marla, he saw her face lit up, she smiled but tried to hide it

"I knew you would light up when we get here" Jason said

"Of course, but you got something wrong" she responded as the started walking down that street taking in the different aromas of the delicacies being cooked in each of the eateries in that street. It was like food heaven for a foodie.

"What did I get wrong?" Jason asked

"A dinner date, doesn't that sound a bit to common these days?" She asked as she nudged him

"You think this is a dinner date? I'm sorry to disappoint but I'm just taking you through here to awaken your taste buds" Jason said with some pride in his voice

"Oh really?" She asked

"Of course yes, a dinner date is way too common, so why not make it more tempting" Jason said

"What do you mean, tempting?" She asked

"What's your favorite ice cream flavour?" Jason asked

"Chocolate with sprinkles on top and that blood red strawberry at the top for the win" Marla said as her face lit up. Jason just looked at her and how her face had lit up making him smile to. When she noticed this, she immediately buried her face in his chest to hide her expression

"You know you look so beautiful when your face flushes red unknowingly" Jason said as she buried her face even more

"Stop that" she muffled through his hoodie

"Stop what?" Jason asked amidst laughter

"That look" she said as she backed away slowly trying to avoid looking into his eyes

"This look?" Jason asked as he held her by the chin and raised her face to look at her. She slowly opened her eyes and when they meet he could see that she was trying her best to maintain eye contact. She held it for about ten seconds and then looked away

"Yes, that look" she said as she looked away." But that aside, why did you ask about my ice cream preference?" She asked

"I asked you because I wasn't taking you to a dinner date, I decided to make it kinda unique. This is going to be an ice cream date" Jason said as they were walking and came to a big ice cream shop and stopped at the entrance." What do you think?" He asked

"Oh my God, I didn't see this one coming. It's a perfect date idea, you understood the assignment" she said as she jumped slightly and gave her a kiss on the cheek. When he wanted to talk, he was cut short by his phone vibrating in his pocket.

" Give me a sec" he told her as he stepped back a bit to look at the caller, it was Athena.
