Chapter 59: Unknown Guests

 " So how do you eat it? Since I see you forgot to bring some table knives and spoons" Peter asked

"That's where the fun lies, you don't eat with knives and forks and all that. I'm sure all of you washed your hands before sitting down to eat" Jason said as all of them shook their heads in unison

"Well then this is how you do it" Jason said as he took a handful of the Ugali in one hand and squeezed it in his palm. He then scooped the kachumbari together with the roasted meat before throwing the entire handful into his mouth, "now that is a meal to die for" he said as he let all the flavours burst in his mouth. Peter followed and so did the rest

"Wow, this stuff is amazing" Bennett said as he was taking another swipe at the Ugali

"Im starting to think that he just pretends that he doesn't know how to cook" Tyler said as he took another bite

"Even if I wanted to I wouldn't be cooking for you guys daily, that's Peter's work" Jason said as he pointed Peter

"The guy has a fair point" Peter said as he looked at Bennett

They continued with their conversation for about twenty minutes until they had finished eating all of the food to their fill. After this Tyler served all of them with freshly blended pineapple juice straight from the fridge to wash down the food. After they were all done they all helped in cleaning up only leaving the utensils for Peter who insisted that it was his work and he would wash them later. As they put the last dishes away Bennett had a thought which he asked Jason

"Jason" Bennett called out to him

"Yes" Jason answered

"I think it's time to say what you're doing here exactly" Bennett said as the whole place went quiet

"Just wanted to share a meal" Jason said with some uncertainty in his voice

"Not buying that, so what are you actually doing here?" Bennett asked again now serious and looking at Jason

"I'm guessing you're the one funding the jailbreak" Peter said while looking at Jason then Bennett for confirmation

"He barely knows who you are,be so kind as to start with your name" Tyler said

"One,yes I'm the one in charge of that. I'm surprised that you don't even want to know why we're doing that" Jason said

"Well if there's one thing life has taught me is that the less questions you ask the better. And also Bennett gave me a hefty deal that I couldn't turn down" Peter

"I see why you chose him" Jason said as he looked at Bennett

"I know I'm not supposed to ask much, but Tyler said something about your name....I know you're Jason West but he put it in a way that suggested otherwise" Peter said as all eyes suddenly went to Jason

"I don't think he's ready to know" Jason said

"Know what?" Peter asked

"If I were you Peter I'd be quiet for now and let us handle this" Tyler said to Peter who raised his hands indicating withdrawal

"So you want him helping with getting Hunters out but he doesn't know who he's working for?" Bennett asked Jason," why don't you talk some sense into him" Bennett told Tyler

"Me? How? He barely listens to me" Tyler said as Jason began walking into the living room and took a seat deep in thought. They all followed him behind closely before taking a seat each

"I know I'm supposed to be quiet,but for some reason I'm getting the impression that Jason is the one in charge of everything. And by everything I mean finances, strategy and anything else related to whatever you guys are planning" Peter said as he looked around to get confirmation from either Bennett or Tyler

"Why are you looking at us,ask your questions directly to the source" Tyler said as he pointed to Jason. When Peter looked at Bennett, he also pointed Jason

"I'm not telling the kid anything" Jason said sternly. Suddenly as they were all looking at each other the alarm system went off

"What's that?" Peter asked

"That's the alarm system warning us" Bennett said as he got up quickly to go and check what the threat was

"What threat is it warning us about?" Tyler asked as he got up and went over the kitchen counter ready to pull out a gun," You don't think that the mayor and Ray are trying another swipe at us?"

"No they are not, and the alarm is going crazy since the sensors in the water just picked up something coming our way" Jason said calmly

"He's right, wait how did you know?" Bennett asked as he turned off the alarm, "Jason, who did you invite?" Bennett asked as all eyes were on Jason again

"I just asked two friends to join us today" Jason said calmly as they all looked at the alarm monitor that acted as a radar displaying the approaching vessel, " and there's no need for that" Jason said as he saw Tyler pull our a gun from beneath the kitchen counter

"So do you mind telling us who you invited because I'm sure it was you who said that this place is off bounds to anyone who isn't either Tyler,me,you and Peter" Bennett said

"Which reminds me,you brought Marla here. For someone who is so hell-bent on following laid out rules you did break your own" Tyler said as he looked at him dead in the eye

"I had no other choice,you did put us in that situation to begin with" Jason replied

"Fair point" Bennett said

"You don't get it Bennett,when it's Athena he can come with a compromise,but that girl Marla,I'm sure he is willing to do anything to protect her. That's why he hasn't told her who he really is" Tyler said as he looked at Bennett and then Jason. All this while Peter was seated quietly just listening to what was happening

"Watch your words Tyler" Jason said

"See, that's what I'm talking about. If you're not careful enough she might be the reason for your downfall" Tyler warned

"Nothing can shift my attention from my main goal" Jason assured him

"You're telling me if you had a gun to Marla's head and the only opportunity to getting your redemption was by you pulling the trigger. Would you do it?" Bennett asked. Jason raised his eyes to look at both of them ignoring Peter and with an ice cold stare he said,

"Put Marla in front of me and hand me a gun,then ask me that exact same question and see what I'll do"

"Now that's the West I know" Tyler said, "I see you still have that side of you"

"Guys,I'm sorry to intrude into your conversation but aren't the alleged guests almost here" Peter said as he pointed to the radar. And true to this,they saw that the boat was nearly at the shore

"Well,let's go and say shall we" Jason said as he got up from his seat. Peter looked at Tyler who in turn looked at Bennett who signaled for them to follow Jason

"While I still don't like this idea I feel better if I carried a gun or something just in case" Bennett said as they all got out of the house and headed for the shore

"Like I said, that won't be necessary. I actually think we're more dangerous than the guests" Jason said

"I'm on Bennett's side on this, I also don't like this idea at all" Tyler said

"And here I thought of all of us you would be more thrilled to meet them" Jason said as they reached the shore and saw a small speed boat with two people who were busy anchoring it with their backs turned to them

"And who would they be?"Tyler asked just before both guys turned to face them

"Tyler? Is that you?" They both asked in unison
