Chapter 83:His Return is Confirmed

All news outlets were a buzz of activities. Speculations started flying from all kinds of directions. They all wondered at first at who was this so called man. The man who called himself Ghost. A man so powerful that he got the president of Serbia to side with him on such a huge case that was being watched by the whole globe and expecting a verdict. There was some sense of confusion when she played this recording and the judges were visibly confused too. But it would all end when the panel of world leaders voted on whether she was fit to stay on the panel and whether her veto vote would actually stand or whether they would have to vote again. Murmurs had circulated inside the court room with some people wanting her to give a detailed explanation as to who the Ghost was. For a brief moment, Alpha wasn't sure whether he was actually on the right track when he thought that it was Jason who had finally decided to come back to the world or whether this was just coincidence. The Krovaçi...

Chapter 82: He is Back

"You are not going to slay the Slayer" she reiterated to everyone in the room. There was a temporary moment of silence, the same kind of silence that occurs just before the aftermath of a nuclear explosion occurs. Her eyes were fixed on the senior most judge. She knew it was a matter of time before there would be pandemonium in the place and all over Panem. Worst still, she knew that her people of Serbia would be the ones to get stirred up more than any other group of people. In the wake of the Serbian Slayer's killing spree, Serbians were the ones who were most affected. Her decision to veto this decision would seem like shooting yourself on the food kind of scenario. She was the least expected member of the panel to stand on Magraff's side. Alpha was flabbergasted to the point where he couldn't even think straight. He had already lost hope in the case and knew that Magraff was a dead man in waiting. But just when things seemed to have gone completely out of con...

Chapter 81: Slaying the Slayer?

Pandemonium broke out as the judge delivered this verdict. Outside the court where a large crowd had gathered, the news spread like wildfire. Screams of joy and jubilation were heard as people broke down into tears. Every news outlet in the country and globe at large displayed that verdict on their screens to their viewers and listeners the moment those words left the judge's mouth. 'Ole ole ole ole, ole ole' the song of celebration and victory started to rent the air from the court halls down to the main gates. Like an infectious virus, the song resonated in the minds of many as it was sang by everyone who heard it and was awaiting that verdict. Justice had been served according to them. The kids at home started rejoicing when their parents told them that the modern day Boogeyman was about to be put out his misery. Parents were ecstatic. Women and girls were thrilled for the Serbian Slayer who had the tendency of going after women, was now served his humble pie. The joy w...

Chapter 80: The Verdict

The clock struck four in the evening. The tension in the air was so thick that the people barely moved from their seats. Journalists were on their seats adjusting their camera lenses every now and then confirming if their microphones were in good working conditions to get the best audio once the judges and jury walks out of their chambers. It has been around two hours since the two groups excused themselves to go and deliberate on the case and make their judgements. Magraff was allowed to seat next to his wife during this time and she cried uncontrollably throughout as he consoled her. Alpha was behind the Krovaçic brothers and every once in a while they exchanged a few words. Maurice was infront of Loki and the mayor who seemed impressed by his expertise as a lawyer. They look contented by what had transpired in the court room. Jason was still at the back of the room lost in his own thoughts. In his earpiece, he could hear Bennet and Peter talk to Hunters as they reached a motel ...

Chapter 79: A Man's Plea

This went on for a while. Maurice built a strong case while the brothers did their best to defend their client since they knew that his life literally lied on their hands. If they lost this case, it was almost certain that Magraff would not even be considered for a jail term. His only way out of this if found guilty was by death. After a while, the court declared a ten minute break just to calm the nerves and for the people to take a breather. Stakes were high as the judges together with the jury needed some time off to process the information and evidence that was presented in front of them. In such a case, any decisions that would be made would not be viable for an appeal. Their only way was to make sure that whatever they device, it should be final. Alpha looked for Jason who was still in the courtroom standing at the back. "You know you shouldn't be seen around me that much" Jason said as soon as Alpha approached him "You shouldn't worry that much" Alph...

Chapter 78: The Hearing

While still on stand, Maurice rose from his feet and walked up to Belinda. "That was quite the interesting story there. But I don't like to beat around the bush so if you don't mind me, I'll start by asking the hard hitting questions" " No problem" Belinda answered " Let's go back to the day when your daughter went missing. According to your account and that of your husband, you both acknowledge that you had given her permission to sleepover at her friend's house, right?" " Yes" " So from the moment she left school to somewhere the next day if you both didn't receive any phone call or text from her, it wouldn't be much of a red flag? " " Not entirely" " Kindly elaborate " " I mean, she knew that she had to call us at least once to know that she had gone to the friend's house or even gotten a call from the friend's parents letting us know that she was there" " So, wa...

Chapter 77: A Good Man

The whole courthouse was a buzz of activities when the was the announcement that the hearing was just about to begin. It was to be held in the biggest room in the whole building to accommodate for the large number of attendees. First to be allowed into the courtroom were the reporters who were in their masses hurriedly trying to get in first so that they could find the best spot to set up their cameras. Next to be allowed in was the group of some high ranking officials, some civilians, invited members etc. It was with this group that Jason entered with and went to the back of the room where he could oversee the whole thing from far. After them, the next were the five heads of state including the president of Serbia and Loki, the president of Panem. They entered with a high security presence who came in and assessed the room after making sure that the outside environment was safe enough to avoid another attack. Jason watched as they were on high alert ready for anything, he felt li...

Chapter 76: The Show Must Go On

Loki was fuming at this point. He couldn't believe the incompetence of the mayor and the commander of Sin City. They stood in front of him silent as if they were waiting for a firing squad. He had high hopes that today was going to go so well but this wasn't how he had planned it. "If this thing blows up, it's all on you guys. I won't be dragged down by you clumsy mistakes" he said before exiting the room after taking in a short breath. The last thing that he'd want is the media finding out that he was in any way related to Hunters. He was later followed by the mayor while the commander stayed behind and try to get to the bottom of the matter at hand. As the saying goes, the show must go on They all had to put on their game masks to go and witness one of the biggest cases to ever be presided over on Panem soil. Jason on the other hand tried his best to stay on the low leaving the spotlight to Alpha and his team. He could see people flock around the Krovaç...

Chapter 75: Unknown Company

The news was just arriving at the courthouse even though it was still in bits as no group of reporters had actually arrived at the scene and gotten more information. However, the internet was a buzz with amateur videos recorded from phones about the attack by the few brave citizens who had the courage to even look at what was happening outside. In the hallway, Jason was pacing as he waited for confirmation from Peter and Bennet on whether the mission was a success or not. So far, he had gotten word from Tyler who had successfully done his part and was on his way to a safe place. Jason stopped pacing when he set his eyes on Daniels. Loki's contender for the presidency in the upcoming election. He hadn't seen Jason yet and Jason intended to keep it that way at the moment. He didn't want to attract any attention to himself today. Daniels walked up to Loki and in a show of respect, they shook hands in front of the cameras. This wasn't the only thing that was happening at t...

Chapter 74: Getting Hunters 2

While this was happening, Hunters together with the guard at the back sat in confusion as they hear everything that was happening outside the van. According to protocol, he wasn't supposed to open the door unless he was assured by his other officers that the coast was clear. "We need to wind this up, time's running out on us" Bennet said in a low voice knowing that both Peter and Tyler could hear him. With these words, it was time for them to finish what they had started. Peter asked the guard who was with the driver to come and help him so that he doesn't bleed out. They dragged him to where the other two officers were taking cover behind the car that Peter was driving. Just as this was happening, the two officers ran out of bullets and were just about to reload when Peter and Bennet saw their chance. "Excuse me boys" Bennet said as he and Peter turned their guns to the four men. Two were busy reloading while one was busy attending to the one who was s...

Chapter 73: Getting Hunters

Hunters was in the back of the van when it started heading back to the prison. He could hear the loud crowds as they were exiting the courthouse. He also heard the prison transport guards complain over the comms about how they were picked for this job while they wanted to stay and watch the court hearing of the Serbian Slayer. Meanwhile, for Peter, Bennet and Tyler, things were completely different. The grounds were now shifting and they had to shift with it. With every passing minute, they got closer to their target area. About five minutes out, they made sure that their sidearms were working well as they followed the van closely behind. At the front was the other prison escort that led the way. It flashed red and blue lights as it went down the streets. Not that anyone paid attention because all eye were glued on the TV's across Sin City and Panem. The three men confirmed whether the comms also worked well. "Can you guys hear me?" Jason asked as he stood in the hallway...

Chapter 72: It Begins

Still at the courthouse the crowd was becoming bigger with every passing hour. Most of the world leaders had arrived but the most awaited leader was the president of Siberia. The whole world waited for her arrival as her country was the one that was most affected by the Serbian's Slayer destruction. His trail was evident in her country such that he was even included in the history books of Siberia. In the schools, it was taught that he was never caught but today would determine whether all the books would be recalled for editing or not When she arrived with her team of delegates, she was welcomed by the crowd with cheers and applause. Inside the courthouse things were running as normal as other cases were being heard , such as the likes of Hunters' case. When he was brought before the judge , his team tried to put up a fight but deep down they knew that his fate was sealed. The session didn't even last long before a verdict was reached. He was sentenced to fifty years with...
